Artist Note
Bob Marley is a vibrant Rastafarian recording where the profound spirituality of the icon intertwines with the symbols of his Jamaican and African heritage. In this visual journal his portrait rises above a tropical island seascape that plays tribute to the land and the fantastic creatures of his home. Following the vertical segments of the Jamaican flag the painting is divided into three distinct fields of color and energy. Within the circular coils of his hair an entire universe is being born featuring a glowing sun and moon and colorful clouds and rainbows. A ladder reaches through a portal in the sky to represent the upward climb toward liberation and higher understanding. I used a unique shading technique that incorporates the patterns of brain cells to show that the landscape of the world is a direct reflection of his inner thoughts and music. This work serves as a testament to the power of a single voice to harmonize the vibration of the earth with the frequency of the heavens. It is a map for the soul that seeks to find the garden of peace within the rhythm of the cosmic struggle.Â
