Paul Guest also known as Monkey was a founding father of contemporary blotter art and the undisputed master of the craft. His reputation for perfectionism was legendary and his dedication to the work is the reason the major artists of the world trusted him with their visions. Paul was a beautiful mind and a true altruist who mentored collectors and artists alike while building a global legacy through the original Heidelberg press. My partnership with Paul began in 2015 and continued until his passing in 2021. Today that torch is carried by his close ally Lucifer who has been a pillar of the blotter scene since the early 2000s.

Carrying on Monkey's Legacy

Lucifer began designing blotter art after meeting Monkey at Strawberry Sunday in London. They became close allies and produced their first set of designs together between 2004 and 2008. Originally these were made on the J Blackburn Heidelberg press in the US until Monkey purchased the printers in 2010 and Lucifer helped ship them to the UK piece by piece. Today production continues on those original machines to ensure every piece is a museum quality artifact. This latest Nicholas Sand release honors that enduring legacy of precision and visionary intent.
