Artist Note
John Lennon is a surrealistic recording of the imagery that flows from the mind of a man who helped define the frequency of the psychedelic sixties. In this visual journal the bottom of the piece features the iconic Sea of Holes while the sky behind the portrait is filled with floating three dimensional boxes in perspective paying homage to the visionary world of Yellow Submarine. John’s face is rendered in classic blacklight primary colors to capture the neon energy of his era. Within the outline of his hair a vivid universe unfolds featuring peace signs and clouds and a sun influenced by the Magical Mystery Tour. As his hair wraps beneath his chin it transforms into a lush strawberry field to represent the grounded yet surreal roots of his creativity. Flowing lines of vibrant color weave through the composition to show how his music acted as a bridge between the physical world and the vivid realms of the imagination. This work is a testament to the power of one individual to dream a new world into existence and serves as a map for those who still believe that all you need is love to navigate the universe.
